Cozy Powell VH-1 Tribute Pictures
On April 24th, 1998, VH-1 ran a tribute (VH-1 in Europe only - naturally the States didn't get it). Brian Dowling from the UK was kind enough to send along these captures from the special. You can click on any of these for a larger image.
Here's some notes from Brian about the Tribute:
Running List of Songs...
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
Headless Cross - Black Sabbath
Ready For Love - Gary Moore
Long Live Rock N Roll - Rainbow
Since You Been Gone - Rainbow
Driven By You - Brian May Band
Feels Good To Me - Black Sabbath
Green Manalishi - Peter Green Splinter Group
Albatross - PGSG
Homework - PGSG
Each song was followed by a tribute or two from other rock musicians, with Tommy Vance's
tribute ending the show. After the end title, Gary Moore's After The War ended the hour
allocated for the show.
I've tried to get as many shots as I can showing Cozy's face rather than the blur of
activity we knew him to be behind the kit. With this in mind, music videos do not make it
that easy to pull captures from!
There are several from the Peter Green Splinter Group session at VH-1 recently because
they came out best, and are the most recent of Cozy I've seen. My favourites from the set
are driven_1 from Brian May at Brixton Academy and pgsg_1 - in that one he's ending Green
Manalisha.
I hope you like them, it's no word of a lie to say that it was an emotional
experience snapping them.
Kindest regards,
Brian Dowling
